A co-working fit out

Form were appointed by Co-Space, a national co-working and serviced office provider, to deliver a design and build fit out of their new site in Stevenage.

Co-Space, wanted a design-led space that would provide a truly creative environment for freelancers, entrepreneurs and SMEs, supporting the drive towards putting Stevenage on the map as part of the wider ‘Stevenage Even Better’ regeneration scheme.

Over 14 weeks, working in collaboration with design lead Waistcoat & Badger Interiors, we created and delivered this iconic flexible workspace.

Starting from a shell and core 15,000 sq ft space, we completed the full CAT B fit out, providing a mixture of private offices, hot desks and meeting rooms set over three floors.

Alongside a creative mixture of work environments, Co-Space Stevenage features various breakout areas, phone booths for private calls, a large event space, two roof terraces, fully equipped kitchens, showers and bike storage, providing the ultimate co-working experience.

Using exposed services, preserved original brickwork, natural finishes and furniture, the feel is boutique and innovative with some well-executed detailing adding a luxury aesthetic to the space.

This unique design-led flexible workspace, built around functionality, productivity and a boutique office experience, delivers on all fronts.

Form worked tirelessly to deliver our vision alongside our design team Waistcoat & Badger. We couldn't be happier with the result and the support throughout the project. The entire Form team were on hand when needed, and always focused on finding solutions to any issues that arose.

Comprehensive design and build project

We started this co-working fit out with full mechanical and electrical installations. To provide maximum flexibility and comfort, we installed an energy-efficient VRF air-conditioning system with individual room controllers. New LED lighting and a PIR detection system were installed, as well as power and data, optimised for the needs of individual users. We also provided security and access control systems, including CCTV, to allow 24/7 access.

The numerous workspaces were placed around the perimeter and constructed from high-quality crittall glazed partitions to make the most of the natural light and provide a contemporary aesthetic feel.

The materials used were selected with sustainability in mind. The resin floor installed on the roof terrace for example, was constructed entirely from recycled plastic.

The Form team gave the finishing touches the same amount of care and consideration. We provided bespoke joinery including a stunning reception desk, fitted sound-absorbing acupanel to phone booths and fitted blinds to give occupants maximum control over light and airflow.

The final result is a creative and all-encompassing co-working and flexible workspace that exceeded expectations for both functionality and design.
